The Short Version
Peekdown doesn't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Your markdown files stay on your device. That's it.
Data Collection
We collect nothing. Peekdown is a local-only application that:
- Does not require an account or sign-in
- Does not collect analytics or usage data
- Does not transmit your files or their contents anywhere
- Does not use cookies or tracking technologies
- Does not connect to the internet for any functionality
Local Storage
Peekdown stores the following data locally on your Mac using standard macOS mechanisms:
- Window positions: Remembered via UserDefaults so your windows reopen where you left them
- App preferences: Your settings choices (window position preference, expand behavior)
This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by deleting the app's preferences.
File Access
Peekdown accesses markdown files only when you explicitly open them via:
- The Open dialog (Cmd+O)
- Drag and drop onto the app window
- Double-clicking a .md file in Finder
- QuickLook preview (Space bar in Finder)
Files are read locally and rendered in-app. No file contents are ever transmitted off your device.
Third-Party Services
Peekdown uses no third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms. The app is fully self-contained.
Children's Privacy
Peekdown does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Since we don't collect any data, we have no way to notify you directly—check this page if you're curious.
